Harry Potter creator J.K Rowling delivered a brutal burn on the three actors that made the films the cultural phenomena they still are today.
While the films were probably going to succeed anyway due to the success of the Harry Potter books, I’d argue it was Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint’s portrayal of Harry, Hermione and Ron that really made those films what they are.
It was genuinely moving to see the finale of the film series, knowing the three actors had been part of this world since childhood
That said, a few bridges have been burnt since then as several Harry Potter actors have publicly opposed J.K Rowling’s political and social views, something the series creator hasn’t taken too well.

In a recent X post J.K Rowling responded to a thread asking “what actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?” saying “three guesses, sorry it was irresistible.”
This has quickly been perceived as her talking about Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, but it’s never said outright so we can’t be too sure.
“She’s referencing Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. The three stars of the work that made her a billionaire” read a retweet, going on to say “She’s mad at them because they don’t support her being transphobic on Twitter 24/7.”
Many disputed the claim believing she was talking about someone else, but again we can’t be sure.

J.K Rowling is confirmed to have involvement in the HBO Max reboot of Harry Potter, but it’s unknown how much control she’ll have over the project.
HBO Max has stood by the decision to keep her in the loop, and that’s perfectly fair because it’s still her intellectual property at the end of the day, she does by right get a say on how it’s adapted.
That said it wouldn’t be surprising to see the series premiere hit with boycotts due to her involvement.
