It’s been a while since we had any official updates about The Batman 2 beyond that detail that Matt Reeves was still working on the plot and script.
However, a recent update from cast member Andy Serkis has the fans excited as he teases a little more about progress on the highly anticipated sequel.
The Batman sequel is still some years away, but any update is a good one.
In the update, Serkis confirmed that he has heard from Matt Reeves, telling him the story of the upcoming film.

“I am as hungry for it as you all are... He told me the story of THE BATMAN 2 and I was so excited for it,” said the actor and director.
Serkis, who plays Alfred opposite Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne and Batman, will be back for the sequel film, but very little is known regarding the villains we’ll see.
James Gunn, who is now overseeing the DC output of films and TV shows, has discussed the sequel and confirmed that The Batman 2 will be an ‘Elseworlds’ release, meaning it takes place outside the DCU continuity and universe.
We’ll likely get more information as the months pass and lead up to shooting beginning, but it’s great to hear that a story is in place.

Of course, this new information has fans excited, with one taking to Twitter to say, “If Andy’s into it, I’m into it.”
Another fan eagerly noted, “Ooh, can't wait to see what they have in store for the sequel!”
While there is some excitement, many fans are cautious of getting their hopes up too soon as a story being written could still mean release is a few years away.
However, people are eager to see Pattinson back in the cowl, with one fan saying, “I like how Pattison captures Wayne’s existential pain without the mask.”

Here’s hoping more news is around the corner.
