An upcoming action FPS on Steam looks like a pretty standard mix between the likes of Fallout and Valheim… that is, until you get to the bit in the trailer where a guy is sharing his lunch with a bear.
DMZ: Nuclear Survival is an upcoming “open-world survival crafting game” from developers Wild Dog, and news of its announcement was dropped alongside a trailer.
Look, we all know why you clicked on the title, so let’s get to the important bit: yes, you can become mates with bears.

“By bringing NPCs captured in the field back to your base, you can make them your companions,” states the Steam description.
“These include combat-specialized soldiers like infantry, scouts, and medics, as well as valuable personnel for internal affairs such as farmers, scientists, and politicians. A variety of animals, like bears, wolves, and ostriches, can also become your allies.”
You had me at “bears, wolves, and ostriches”, buddy.
If you are planning to grab this one because you’re an animal lover, I highly suggest skipping the bit in the trailer where the player unloads a clip into a nearby bear.

The devs have also promised that players will be able to dive into another classic manly pastime, though: thinking about the Roman Empire.
If you want to get the most out of DMZ: Nuclear Survival, you’ll have to “excavate ancient ruins scattered across the land—such as pyramids, terracotta warriors, and Roman temples.” Why does it sound like this game is a middle-aged, divorced father’s dream game all of a sudden?
No exact release date for this one, but the developers have stated that it’ll be going into early access at some point this year.
No word on whether or not it’s a PC exclusive title either, so I highly suggest wishlisting this one and keeping an eye on its news updates on Steam if you’re interested to hear more.
