James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision for the rebooted DCU is beginning to take shape as several names have now been added to the cast list for the upcoming Superman: Legacy.
Let’s face it. The DCU, formerly DCEU, was in dire need of a reboot. For years now, the franchise has been marred by various issues. Many fans called for Ezra Miller and Amber Heard to be recast following their respective controversies. Prior to that, Justice League actor Ray Fisher made a number of allegations against director Joss Whedon and executive producer Walter Hamada, accusing them both of abusive and unprofessional behaviour. In recent weeks, The Flash has proved to be a major commercial flop for DC, despite positive reviews from audiences. You can see why then that Safran and Gunn were brought on board to revitalise things.
Blue Beetle is set to release on 18 August. Take a look at the film in action below.
The duo’s DCU will kick off with Superman: Legacy, which will start ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’. Previously, it was announced that David Corenswet will portray Clark Kent while Rachel Brosnahan will bring Lois Lane to life. Now, much of the remainder of the primary cast has been unveiled - including the fact that Nathan Fillion will bring the Green Lantern to life. Now that is perfect casting.

As reported by Vanity Fair, Fillion will portray Guy Gardner, described as a “hulking mass of masculinity”. Guy is known for his pretty severe bowl haircut, which Vanity Fair adds will be a part of Fillion’s look in the film.
He’s joined by Edi Gathegi who will portray Michael Holt / Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced who’s set to portray Hawkgirl. Gathegi has previously starred in Twilight, X-Men: First Class, and The Harder They Fall, while Merced is known for appearances in Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Madame Web. Superman: Legacy remains in pre-production.
