DCU's Batman can only be played by one man, fans agree

Who will be the next Caped Crusader?

Whoever is to play the role of Batman in James Gunns’ DCU, will have to hit the ground running but fans believe they’ve found the next protector of Gotham City.

We’ve had some amazing actors playing the role of one of comic’s most iconic characters in both live-action and animated form. Adam West, Micheal Keaton, Kevin Conroy, Christian Bale and more recently, Robert Pattinson, each have played the role of Batman brilliantly, in their own right.

Check out The Batman trailer below!

We know that we’re getting a sequel to 2022’s The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves but it’s not considered part of the DCU. It exists as its own entity, for now.

That being said, James Gunn will cast his own Caped Crusader in his upcoming DCU movie, The Brave and the Bold, presumably in some part inspired by the animated franchise adapted into live-action

In Batman: Brave and the Bold, we will see the father and son duo, Bruce and Damian Wayne (Robin) teaming up to fight the criminal scum of Gotham City. It will also be part of the DCU’s ‘Gods and Monsters’ story.

The DCU’s ‘Gods and Monsters’ will kick off with Superman: Legacy in 2025, with David Corenswet playing the role of the new Clark Kent. This will then be followed up by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Batman: Brave and the Bold.

DC fans on Twitter have been discussing who should be James Gunns’ Batman and by popular demand, that appears to be Jensen Ackles, who played Solider Boy in Amazon Prime’s The Boys.

“Jensen Ackles,” DbsContents tweeted with an image of the actor and Batman side-by-side, replying to a tweet from ScreenTime.

Judging by the thread, many fans agree that Jensen Ackles should be the next Bruce Wayne and I think he’d be a fantastic choice if chosen by James Gunn.

Other names mentioned included the likes of Josh Hartnett, Alan Ritchson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill and more. Personally, I’m still holding out for the day when Josh Brolin gets cast as Thomas Wayne.

Hopefully, more information such as casting in Batman: Brave and the Bold will be released in the coming months.
