Last year saw the release of The Last of Us Part I, Naughty Dog’s new-gen remake of their 2013 classic. Many questioned whether such a remake was required, but Naughty Dog knew what they were doing. We’re all rushing to get our hands on the remake now following the premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us series.
After just one episode, The Last of Us is a colossal success. It’s the highest-rated TV show of all time on IMDb and it’s HBO’s second-largest debut in over a decade, sitting just behind House of the Dragon. If you’re yet to play the game or maybe haven’t had a chance to check out the remake, subscribers to the premium tier of PlayStation Plus can now access a two-hour free trial. That’s a pretty generous amount of time. In fact, you could complete the Left Behind DLC in that time if you really wanted to.
Take a look at The Last of Us Part I in action below.
As pointed out by Reddit user Master470, “If you’re fast enough, you can play the entire Left Behind DLC remake for free.” It’s true that the free trial of Part I includes the Left Behind DLC. If you’re unfamiliar with the expansion, Left Behind is designed to be played after the main game. It explores Ellie’s backstory but also expands upon the events of the main game. As Master470 notes, it’s not particularly long.

Left Behind takes a couple of hours to complete. If you’re unfamiliar with the DLC, you may be hard pressed to fit it in in two hours but if you know what to expect, I reckon it could be easily done. If you’re not looking to rush anything, I’d definitely just experience the first two hours of the game. It’s well worth playing the remake.
In our review, we wrote, “The Last of Us Part I wholly improves on its predecessor, creating a game that is as detailed, thorough, and immersive as is possible. [...] This is a faithful and expertly enhanced remake. Fans will find no better way to experience this story, and first-time players are likely to discover a new all-time favourite.” Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
