Neil Druckmann is having a difficult time when it comes to addressing The Last of Us Part III.
Officially, there’s no word on whether the game exists or not; insiders claim mocap has begun, but such information has to be taken with a hefty pinch of salt.
Personally, I’m of the opinion that it is coming.

I’ve already written extensively as to why I believe that’s the case, and it’s mainly to do with the fact that Druckmann stated as much in last year’s Grounded II: The Making of The Last of Us Part II documentary.
And yet, on The Last of Us’ season two press tour, the man is coming up with every other response under the sun.
He is, admittedly, in a difficult position.
If The Last of Us Part III does exist, he cannot confirm that but if you don’t outright deny, you give people hope.

Druckmann’s done it all though.
He’s told us it’s happening, that it’s never happening, and that it might happen with the latter being the subject of today’s story.
The Last of Us’ second season has now premiered.
If his technique is to deliver wildly different answers every time he’s asked this question to keep us all reporting on his ever-changing stance to distract us from the truth, it’s working.

"Back at Naughty Dog, we're now working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which is something we've been working on for many years. That is taking up all of our time," he recently told ComicBook.
"I am treating these projects like it's the last thing I will ever work on. So my assumption is that there will be no more. If the stars align, and everything comes into place, who knows?"
So Part III could happen if the stars align? Bro, it’s happening isn’t it? I can feel it.
Look, Druckmann is busy promoting The Last of Us’ second season and then Naughty Dog will want the focus solely on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, so you can understand him wanting to direct attention away from a potential third game.

But I’m still convinced with absolute certainty that one is coming; I just don’t think anyone is going to convince Druckmann to give anything other than a wishy-washy answer until a reveal is likely ready in several years time.
