The people crave Titanfall 3. Unfortunately, that’s not coming but allow me to soften the blow. It does appear as if a new game is on the way, set within the Titanfall universe.
There was a time when it once seemed like Titanfall 3 was a real possibility. That was followed by Respawn dashing our hopes, yet then dropping a Titanfall-related teaser. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions to say the least. A major blow then landed last year when it was revealed that Titanfall 3 had in fact entered development but was cancelled after around 10 months of work. It’s a real shame that we won’t get a third entry, particularly given that many fans have hailed Titanfall 2 as one of the best first-person shooters ever created.
Take a look at the glorious Titanfall 2 in action below.
As reported by Eurogamer, Respawn is now believed to be working on a brand new game set within the Titanfall universe - it just won’t be Titanfall 3. The team working on the project is reportedly being led by Titanfall and Titanfall 2 director Steve Fukuda, so the game is seemingly in safe hands. This was revealed by Respawn head Zince Zampella via a previous interview with Axios.

In the latest tidbit of information to drop, GiantBomb’s Jeff Grub added fuel to the fire, adding that to his knowledge, this project was indeed a Titanfall game. To date, Respawn have refrained from commenting on the exact nature of the project. As always, I urge you to take this insider knowledge with a pinch of salt, but it certainly seems like a plausible claim to make.
Grubb added that the project had been in a pre-production prototyping phase but was recently believed to have taken important steps forwards. He referred to it as a game with “online multiplayer and a single-player campaign”, which sounds a lot like the Call of Duty model. It’ll certainly be exciting to see if this project ever officially comes to fruition. We sure hope so.
