Spoiler warning: this article contains big spoilers for the first episode of The Last of Us. Please, go watch it if you haven’t already.
To the surprise of no one who’s familiar with the original game, the first episode of The Last of Us was a sobfest, and Nico Parker, the English actress who took on the heartbreaking role of Sarah Miller, was a huge part of it.
It’s not exactly a hot take that The Last of Us has one of gaming’s best opening sequences, so it was always going to be hard to follow in a TV adaptation. However, to say that the show’s premiere was any less than perfect would be a crime - in fact, many fans believe that the series is on track to be even better than its source material.

Take a look at what’s coming up next on The Last of Us below.
Sarah’s death was always a hard watch, but as UNILAD reports, fans are in agreement that Nico Parker’s performance in the first episode took it to the next level. You’d think that since many of us knew exactly what was coming, the pain might have been lessened slightly. This was not the case.
“The Last of Us is perfectly casted so far but Nico Parker’s performance as Sarah was phenomenal. THAT scene broke me,” tweeted @gurlnico. “Honestly, a huge shoutout to Pedro Pascal and Nico Parker. Just half an episode to portray their father/daughter relationship to a difficult audience that knows what’s coming and they did it! Emotional, raw and just plain brilliance in their bond,” wrote @pechupops. “It’s actually insane how much Nico Parker did with such little screen time. I instantly fell in love with her as Sarah and it made saying goodbye to her so, so much harder,” added @fallenandor.

It’s a shame that Parker’s screen time was so short, but her impact on the series certainly isn’t going to be forgotten any time soon.
