The countdown to The Last of Us’ second season has begun, and the thing that everyone wants to know is just who will be taking on the role of Abby.
We likely have a very long wait before The Last of Us Part II’s adaptation hits our screens. Bella Ramsey recently revealed that it probably won’t be until “the end of 2024, early 2025”. Keep in mind that that’s just for the second season too - the showrunners have already confirmed that it’ll take more than one season to cover the sequel’s entire story, so it’s going to be a very long time before everything is wrapped up. Let’s hope that Part III is out in game form by then.
If you’re yet to play The Last of Us games, the Part I remake is coming to PC on 28 March. Take a look at the trailer below.
Even so, it seems likely that the person who’ll be portraying Abby Anderson has already been chosen. Everyone’s favourite golfer was recently teased in an official poster which was tweeted by co-creator Neil Druckmann, giving us our first look at… her arm. Yeah, we’re no further forward when it comes to guessing who the actor is, but it’s caused speculation and fan casting to go into overdrive.

Previously, fans all thought that Shannon Berry might be the one behind the golf club due to her own acknowledgement of her resemblance to the character, as well as the fact that Druckmann follows her on Instagram. Now though, as The Gamer reports, fans think that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Mandalorian star Katy O’Brian would be a fantastic choice.
“Katy O’Brian would make a FANTASTIC Abby for The Last of Us season two,” Twitter user @ArkhamNumb wrote, along with two pictures comparing O’Brian and Abby side by side. There’s no doubt about it, there’s definitely a resemblance.
Others agree: “F**K YES!!! GIVE IT TO ME!!!” @ZeroYear97 replied. “HELL YES,” tweeted @StraderZane.

Unfortunately though, it seems very unlikely that she’s actually in with a chance to get the role. On Twitter, O’Brian wrote, “Full disclosure: the second TLoU came out, I told my team to keep an [eye] on it. When they announced the show, I asked a few […] to see if I could get an audition. Nada. I appreciate the support but it’s not in the cards.”
For now then, the official casting remains a mystery. We’ll just have to watch this space.
