Despite the PlayStation 5 rapidly approaching its five-year anniversary, it seems as though Sony has been pumping out upgrades over the past year in an effort to make the console as iconic as some of its previous iterations.
Let’s face it, the PlayStation 5 had a lot to live up to when it was first released back in 2020, especially as its launch was less than smooth thanks to stock shortages, scalpers, and a whole pandemic to contend with.
See the PlayStation 5 in action in the trailer below!
However, the latest Sony console has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years, and has even paved the way for the PlayStation 5 Pro and the 30th anniversary edition which launched last November.

It was during the launch of the 30th anniversary edition that Sony began playing around with the idea of nostalgia by including some limited-time customisation features.
Now it seems as though it is continuing with this in its recent PS5 update.
The update, which goes live on 24 April (but rolled out in phases), will feature two new key additions to the console including audio focus and the return of a classic UI design.
The audio focus update will allow players to adjust volume settings to meet their hearing preferences.

“When the audio focus setting is turned on, you can choose from a range of preset options which makes it easier to distinguish sounds like in-game character dialogue, subtle sound effects such as footsteps and rustling grass, as well as voices in party chats for a more immersive gaming experience,” the official blog post reads.
There are multiple presets and adjustments that can be made which really paves the way for accessibility in the PlayStation 5.
However, it seems as though fans are mostly excited for the return of this classic UI.
Users will now be able to feel the nostalgia by customising their PS5 home screens to look like those used for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

The feature will be known as ‘Appearance’ and can be found in the Settings menu.
“Huge W bringing back the 30th anniversary themes,” one user over on Twitter said following the announcement.
Another added, “This is a great change!
Ideally, it would be nice to have access to a large amount of themes based on games and wallpapers similar to previous consoles, but any customization is a good change.”

It seems as though the majority of PS5 users are over the moon with this new addition, especially those who have been PlayStation fans since the beginning.
Hopefully this will pave the way for more customisation options in the future.
