Tributes have been flooding in for the American actress Annie Wersching, who has sadly died at the age of 45 after a battle with cancer.
Wersching was best known for her roles in the TV series Bosch and 24, and also as the voice and performance capture actress for Tess in The Last of Us game. It’s been confirmed that the third episode of The Last of Us TV adaptation will be dedicated to her.
“Annie was a brilliant actor, a wonderful mother, and a bright light of a human being. We mourn for her and the children who are grieving her loss,” showrunner Craig Mazin and The Last of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann wrote in a statement (via Reddit). “Tonight’s episode has become particularly poignant in a way we would have never hoped or wished for, and we are dedicating it to Annie’s memory. It may be too late to get that on screen for tonight, but we will work to get it done as soon as we can. Annie Wersching, and the Tess she originated, will live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace.”

Druckmann shared the same sentiment on his own Twitter account, where he wrote: “Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones.”
Fans of The Last of Us have also been paying tribute to the actress and celebrating her work.
“Rest in peace, Annie Wersching. I’ll always remember her impactful performance as Tess in The Last of Us,” @mofromyt tweeted. “I come back to watch this particular performance by Annie Wersching regularly. She brought Tess to life in every way. Words can’t quite comprehend. Love to her family and friends,” @courttonee wrote.
