It’s fair to say that The Elder Scrolls series is one of the most popular franchises of all time which is why fans have been desperate for new information ever since the sixth mainline entry was announced at E3 2018.
Yes, it’s really been that long since The Elder Scrolls VI was announced and it's even baffling to think that nearly six years later, Bethesda still hasn't given us story details, a release date or even a snippet of gameplay. All we’ve had is the 2018 announcement trailer which was merely a rendered shot of Tamriel with The Elder Scrolls VI logo.

Microsoft now owns Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media ever since the $7.5 billion takeover was sealed in 2021. This of course means that from that day forth, Bethesda titles are exclusive to Xbox and PC, leaving PlayStation fans gutted that they might not get to play the likes of The Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 5 unless they buy an Xbox or own a capable PC, of course.

However, some have speculated that Microsoft will not keep all Bethesda titles exclusive to the green brand as part of appealing to global market regulators during its $68.7 billion takeover of Activision Blizzard. Documents released during the court battle with the US market regular the FTC in December 2022 (a battle that Microsoft later won), revealed to those in attendance that three upcoming titles would be console exclusive to Xbox.
Since that time in late 2022, Bethesda has released Hi-Fi Rush, Redfall and Starfield. This has left some to speculate (including video game journalist Stephen Totilo) that there’s a chance The Elder Scrolls VI might come to PlayStation 5. That being said, recent rumours suggest that Hi-Fi Rush could be headed to PlayStation 5 this year. It’s perhaps also worth keeping in mind that the yet-to-be-released Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 and more are all slated to be console exclusives on the green brand.
Obviously, at this time, the rumours of Microsoft releasing The Elder Scrolls VI on PlayStation 5 are mere hearsay until confirmed otherwise. Hopefully, there is some truth behind these rumours because a lot of fans have been potentially awaiting its release and it would be nice to see every fan get to play The Elder Scrolls VI if possible. Plus, Microsoft will no doubt pocket a big wad of cash for bringing the next entry in Bethesda’s highly anticipated fantasy RPG to the blue brand.
For now, at least, we can assume that The Elder Scrolls VI is being released on PC and Xbox Series X|S. Unless…?
