I’m sure like me, you are so very excited for Starfield. Tomorrow, we will enter the final three week countdown - which feels somewhat surreal after years of waiting. I cannot wait to sink hours, and I mean HOURS, into this game.
Devs have confirmed that Starfield will feature an “astonishing” number of side quests, which is unsurprising when you remember that it also features over 1,000 planets. There are a number of branching paths we’ll be able to take, and various factions we can join. Fans are convinced that you’ll be able to play as a space samurai and decorate your own apartment, based on recent gameplay footage. On top of that, Bethesda have reassured fans that it’s the least buggiest game they’ve ever shipped. Starfield certainly looks and feels like a GOTY contender, but some potential players are concerned that it may still attract negative attention.
Take a look at Starfield in action below.
It’s perfectly natural that a game may attract a couple of negative reviews, even if it’s on the whole positively received. A review is, after all, a personal opinion. We all have differing tastes and likes. Still, one Reddit user posted to the site their concern that Starfield may attract more criticism than it deserves. The user wrote, “No matter what, Starfield will be hated. I have little reason to believe Starfield will be bad, but I already know at launch and following for years, unconstructive criticism and just plain fabricated complaints will drown out the praise this game will get. This is because of two reasons: The first is what people want out of the game. This sub is generally very positive, which is great to see, but I also see people wanting weird things? People either want things which directly take away or don't fit in the game, or want things that directly contradict with things other people want.”

They continued, “The second reason though is much larger. Bethesda just attracts criticism. I think Bethesda may be the most hated company in gaming right now. It's absurd, I've never seen a company people will go out of their way to s**t on more.”
This should be a time of hype and excitement, not worry. Thankfully, plenty of potential Starfield players were on hand to reassure the OP that criticism shouldn’t necessarily put you off. “I really don't care what the overall gaming community thinks. Their opinion is meaningless to me. If I listened to them I'd have missed out on awesome games like Cyberpunk or Last of Us 2. I'll play what I enjoy,” said one user, while moocow_101 diplomatically added, “Personally, I'd prefer not dealing with theoretical negativity right now. Cross that bridge if we get there but enjoy the ride while we can.” Always look on the bright side, as they say.
