Rumours have been running wild lately that a Star Wars game based on the Mandalorian lore is in the works from developer Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.
The Mandalorian lore is one of the most intriguing in the Star Wars universe, a clan of bounty hunter warriors from the planet Mandalore that live by a strict code within the creed sporting iconic armour made famous in the world of pop culture by the iconic character Boba Fett. Last month, it was announced that a Star Wars Mandalorian movie is on the way and it will star Din Djarin and Din Grogu from the Disney Plus series, so excitement for this property could not be hotter than it is right now.

In 2002, we were graced with the fun action-adventure, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter for PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube, developed by LucasArts. In Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, you play as Jango Fett, the father of the aforementioned Boba Fett. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter wasn't a commercial success, but over the years it developed a cult-like following and fans have been eager for its return in one form or another.

Those calls were nearly answered with the E3 2012 reveal of the now infamous Star Wars 1313, a game which would tell the story of Boba Fett during his early years. Perhaps even a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. Sadly, in April 2013, Star Wars 1313 was abruptly cancelled, disappointing fans as far as a galaxy far, far away.
However, in an interesting turn of events, new rumours began to swirl in June 2023 that Star Wars 1313 may be revived for modern consoles. Sadly, news on that front has been relatively quiet, until now. Well, kind of. A recent job listing for Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has generated a lot of interest this week for a role to work on a new Star Wars FPS, and it will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.
“In collaboration with Lucasfilm, the Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles like Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single-player game is being developed from the ground up leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5,” reads the job listing in question. “We’re combining this inspiration and technology with Respawn’s pedigree for making best-in-class shooters to deliver a brand-new experience our players will love.”
Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that the name of the game wasn't mentioned, but considering recent rumours circulating social media, it doesn't take much to put two and two together. If these rumours are true, the prospect of a new Mandalorian game is exciting.

Whispers across social media claim that the Mandalorian game will be a separate story away from Din Djarin and Din Grogu, which I like the sound of. The possibility of creating your own Mandalorian with a branching storyline is an exciting prospect, if that were to happen. Hopefully, all will be revealed by EA or Respawn Entertainment this year.
