Star Wars Battlefront 3 gameplay blows fans away: 'it looks fantastic'

This is what we should have got

The Star Wars Battlefront series, at least for the time being, is well and truly dead so this leaked gameplay from a planned third game stings even more.

Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Star Wars Battlefront 3? No, I thought not, it’s not a story Electronic Arts would tell you, but it did exist once upon a time.

We’re talking about the original Star Wars Battlefront games, the first two of which can be played on modern consoles via the remastered collection

A third game was planned but unfortunately never happened, then Electronic Arts rebooted the Battlefront series in 2015, getting a sequel in 2017. Then another third game was planned but also didn’t happen, Electronic Arts just don’t like the number three for some reason.

Anyway, a leaked build of the OG Star Wars Battlefront 3 has been found online, and as you can imagine fans are both amazed and ashamed that it never came to be.

The build was shared in a Reddit thread and apparently comes from an unreleased Nintendo Wii version of the game, with gameplay taking place in the Jedi Temple during Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith, and the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: A New Hope.

For those wanting to give it a go you’re in luck as efforts are being made to make the build public, once some technical issues have been resolved.

“Many Bothans died to bring us this information…” joked one fan in the comments, as fans have been searching for additional Battlefront 3 details for years now.

Another added “this is so interesting, I think I see elements from both Force Unleashed and Battlefront Elite Squadron. Would've loved to actually get this game.”

Who knows, maybe one day the series will be rebooted again and we’ll actually get that third game, seems unlikely but stranger things have happened.
