Star Wars Battlefront fans are over the moon because the once-dead series storms back to life.
In 2017, after a mass fan backlash resulting from DICE and EA’s implementation of an over-excessive XP grind and pay-to-win mechanics courtesy of its loot boxes, I don't think many of us would have thought that Star Wars Battlefront II is as popular as it is today.
On the PC platform, Steam, Star Wars Battlefront II had an all-time concurrent 24-hour peak of 10,489 players.
Yet, in May this year, after years of decline, it suddenly jumped to just under 10,000 concurrent players. What’s more, the game was also riding high in the trending charts on PlayStation and Xbox.

However, today, that concurrent number continues to grow, and at the time of writing, the 24-hour peak is 22,760 and even has a new all-time peak of 35,892, according to Steamdb.
So naturally, there’s a good chance that those impressive concurrent player numbers would translate into improved sales on Steam, right? That’s exactly the case, as reported by Alinea Insight.
In June 2025, Star Wars Battlefront II jumped into ninth place in the Steam charts and had sold approximately 751,000 copies. This was likely boosted by the fact that it’s currently discounted by 90% for the ‘Celebration Edition’, which includes a ton of DLC for just £3.49.
With that in mind, Star Wars Battlefront II fans are overjoyed that the resurgence continues for the DICE shooter.

“Star Wars Battlefront II sold over 750k copies on Steam last month, due to the 90% sale,” announced Redditor EmbarrassedSession58, sharing the article from Alinea Insight.
“I love this game. I still play it often,” declared aurak0209, with I_poop_deathstars adding, “I’m still playing it.”
“I still play it, too. I introduced it to my son, who also loves it,” replied ThisIsDam.
“Hell yeah, I almost exclusively play Starfighter Assault only.. It's so good,” said metalupurass2.
