Without a doubt, 2023 is a huge year for Spider-Man fans. With a spectacular new movie to pore over and a brand new game on the horizon, there’s plenty to be excited about.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to swing exclusively onto PS5 consoles on 20 October, meaning that at this point, we have just over three months to wait for it. Its open world will be twice as big as its predecessor’s, and it’s been confirmed that there’s going to be plenty of content in the game which will allow players to freely switch between both Peter and Miles, which sounds like loads of fun.
Take a look at the latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.
Despite all that though, some gamers are hoping for two classic Spider-Man games to make a new-gen comeback - Spider-Man (2000) and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. These two titles were staple games in many young gamers’ PS1 libraries, but they’ve unfortunately gone forgotten by their original devs for years now. As such, fans have taken it into their own hands to start a petition for them both to be remade.

Over on Change.org, Tyler Wheaton has kickstarted the petition to “bring back the classic Spider-Man PS1 games to PS4 and PS5”. With just over 500 signatures at the time of writing, the campaign is admittedly still in its early stages, but there’s definitely potential for it to take off.
“I know all the Spidey fans and gamers are hoping to get these games to play and also want them remastered,” Wheaton wrote on the petition page. “We really miss [these] classics and it’s been so long.”
If you want to support the petition yourself, you can find it right here. We'll just have to hope that someone over at PlayStation or Activision is listening.
