Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track to launch this year, according to Rockstar Games.
Despite that promise, it can be hard to accept that’s the case.
We’ve seen nothing of the game since its original reveal trailer dropped in 2023.

We’re now several months into 2025.
If GTA VI is nearing the completion of its development cycle, you do have to wonder why we’ve not seen anything in the way of, say, gameplay.
Heck, even a couple of screenshots would’ve been nice.
Admittedly, GTA VI is easily the most anticipated game out there.

It doesn’t exactly need marketing, but I still find myself surprised at just how cagey Rockstar is being.
Hopefully, the studio will lift the lid soon but in the meantime, Digital Foundry has provided some insight as to what we can expect from the game’s framerate.
We’ll just have to watch that original trailer for the umpteenth time.
In a previous report, Digital Foundry explained that it expects GTA VI to run at 30fps across all consoles - and yes, that includes the PS5 Pro.

“With a focus on 60 frames per second as the key marketing point for the Pro, we can expect PSSR and the extra GPU muscle to do the heavy lifting, but that won't help games like Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 hit a consistent 60fps,” explained Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter via Eurogamer.
“Nor would I expect simulation-heavy games necessarily limited to 30fps to being able to suddenly run at 60fps. Sony didn't confirm it, but developer documents reveal a 10 percent boost to CPU clocks is available - good for stabilising performance on CPU-limited titles not quite able to sustain 60fps, but not really useful elsewhere.”
He continued, “I still expect GTA VI to be a 30fps game barring some kind of technological miracle and there's no enabling technology in PS5 Pro to change that.”
You might think this news came as a surprise to fans who might’ve been hoping for 60fps, but it’s actually exactly what they were expecting.

“Did people really think PS5 Pro would run GTA VI at 60 fps? People forget PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the base PS5,” wrote Dumbass-Dude1899.
“You could also look at every Rockstar game that has been released and was 30fps on launch to predict that,” added Mince_.
“30fps for a story game is more than enough, this is not a first-person shooter battle royale where every frame counts. Don't get me wrong, 60fps would be even better but a stable 30fps should be enough,” commented Emu105.
Now it would simply be nice to get some confirmation from Rockstar itself … please.
