Ever since Marvel started the gears turning on its cinematic universe in earnest, comic-to-movie adaptations have been the hottest thing in Hollywood.
The business model is known to make enormous profits. The recently released Spider-Man: No Way Home absolutely knocked it out of the park, both critically and commercially, as an example. Now The Batman has been a big box office success - despite Warner Bros' decision to not screen the film in Russia.
There is one superhero reboot which has not seen much of the light, however. While a reboot of the 1997 film Spawn has reportedly long been in the works, aside from claiming that Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner are both tied to the project, very little is known about the whole thing.

Those who haven't even heard of the original film can find out more in this vintage 1997 trailer...
The extremely '90s film was preceded by the catchily titled Todd McFarlane's Spawn: The Video Game for the SNES - McFarlane being the character's creator. While it released to some pretty mediocre reviews, in a recent interview with Comic Book, McFarlane himself has said he won't rule out a video game tie-in.
"I think [the movie] will be the driving force of so many things around it. Literally the snowball business effect. I don't want to have like 30 things that I've got going and then I sort of regret because now we've got a bigger opportunity to do something cooler, or a bigger company wants to come in," McFarlane said.

While McFarlane seems to be worried about "bigger" or "cooler" gaming studios all wanting a piece of the Spawn pie, it might be nice to see, you know, any sort of proof that the film is in the works. You don't need to be coy, now - show us what you've got.
