We love it when an unexpected hit comes along and amasses a cult-like audience for what could be considered an underrated gem, one such game is the GTA-inspired, Sleeping Dogs.
Developed by the now-defunct United Front Games and published by Square Enix, Sleeping Dogs was released on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 before the Definitive Edition was released in 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The original release of Sleeping Dogs garnered respectable scores as high as 83 on Metacritic, but sadly it was deemed a commercial flop by Square Enix, hence why it has never received a sequel.

In case you may have been wondering, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is backwards compatible on Xbox Series X|S and it looks amazing, it has to be said. A sequel to Sleeping Dogs was reportedly in development, but sadly that project died along with United Front Games. However, fans on Reddit believe that it’s time that Sleeping Dogs 2 happened and we agree.

“What's that game sequel you've been waiting for,” asked Redditor Status_Welder9824. “Whenever there's a new Sony game showcase, I always find myself hoping for Bloodborne 2 and a Persona 6 announcement ... honestly, I'd settle for a Bloodborne PC port.”
“Sleeping Dogs 2” replied the simply put Fit-Glass2787. “One of the best games I’ve ever played,” said JamesBong517 in response. “I’d even take just a remake, one in the similar style of RE4. A sequel though you say?! I’d give my firstborn for that, even though I don’t have one, nor do I want to.”
Tmacforthree also suggested that we “Make a baby as an offering to incentivise them to start developing it.” Though, I don't think we need to go that far for Sleeping Dogs 2 to happen, right?
Sadly, at the end of the day, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get Sleeping Dogs 2 as much as we’d love to see it happen. That being said, you can never say never in the video game industry.
