It’s hard to argue against the claim that The Elder Scrolls has one of the best communities when it comes to mods breathing a constant flurry of new life into the games that we love.
It doesn't matter whether it's a massive story expansion, cosmetic or weapon DLC, a visual and gameplay overhaul or a series of bugs and glitches that may have been ignored by a developer for years. Bethesda’s Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series’ are no exception.
Check out the Skyrim Special Edition trailer below!
As if The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim wasn't already a massive game, the mod-sized expansion ‘Odyssey of The Dragonborn’ created by a team of modders led by Icecreamassassin and stonehands1 is so huge that it’s an unofficial sequel that shouldn't be ignored. Oh, and best of all, it’s totally free and it’s available to download now via Nexusmods.

“Legacy of the Dragonborn will forever change how you play Skyrim. Not just a display mod, not just a quest mod, not just a new guild mod, but a complete foundational flagship mod to build an entire load order around,” reads the description of the mod. “This DLC expansion-sized mod adds hundreds of new items, dozens of new quests and hundreds of extra hours of play.”
In a video uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Syn Gaming’, we learn about some of the best elements of the ‘Legacy of the Dragonborn’ mod following an extensive update last year. It’s noted in the video description that ‘Legacy of the Dragonborn’ is still a work in progress but it's no less impressive. Unlike some mods, ‘Legacy of the Dragonborn’ is also available on consoles for those who own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. What’s more, it’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
