Skyrim player stunned by hidden boss battle discovered after 13 years

Something lurks beneath

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have been out for 13 years but that doesn’t mean that players have discovered all there is to find in the much-loved Bethesda RPG.

From a grim and secret trick to level you up faster to a new previously undiscovered shout, players are still finding all the hidden details The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has to offer despite the game first being released way back in 2011.

Check out the official The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim trailer below!

That includes the recent discovery of a quite unknown boss courtesy of one player over on r/skyrim.

They said: “I just discovered this guy... This game just keeps on giving! I've been playing this beautiful amazing game since its launch and I've only just discovered this guy! I can't believe after all this time I'm still discovering new content in Skyrim. Has anyone else had a moment like this?”

The “guy” in question is Karstaag, a powerful ghost frost giant found in the Castle Karstaag Ruins. First appearing in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Bloodmoon DLC, he now features in Skyrim as a hidden and quite challenging boss.

With a huge amount of XP to gain if you do manage to beat him, it is not an easy fight but once you do kill him, you will have the ability to summon him up to three times to fight for you, according to another Reddit user.

Another player pointed out the time they stumbled across an Easter egg relating to Excalibur and the Lady of the Lake in Skyrim. This secret can be found northeast from Bleakwind Basin where you will soon stumble across a skeletal arm holding a sword.

This is just a few of hundreds of secrets lurking through Skyrim’s vast open-world and with Bethesda hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI, we can only hope the sequel will be equally as spectacular.
