The Elder Scrolls VI remains far out of reach. Bethesda may now have launched Starfield, but developers are hard at work providing post-launch support and will be for quite some time.
A number of player-requested features are in the works, like city maps, and then there’s Shattered Space expansion. We have no idea when that’s due to land or what it’s even about, simply that access was included in deluxe editions of the game. When focus does eventually shift away from Starfield, The Elder Scrolls VI is next in line, ahead of Fallout 5. In the meantime, you may be finding yourself craving some fresh content from the franchise. Well, an enormous Morrowind fan-made remake is in the works and let me tell you, it is a thing of beauty.
Take a look at some of our favourite Starfield wins and fails below.
The Elder Scrolls Renewal: Skywind has been in the works for quite some time. Creators are essentially remaking The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind using Skyrim: Special Edition’s engine - and they’re taking their time in the best way. Based on the footage we’ve seen so far, Skywind looks to be of incredibly high quality, going toe-to-toe with Bethesda.

The Skywind project “sheds the shackles of the older game, bringing modern graphics, assets, and sounds, a full cast of voice actors, and all the benefits of fifteen years of gaming improvements, while preserving the incredible characters, locations, and quests with which Morrowind charmed the world all those years ago,” according to the official website.
The latest gameplay tease came two months ago, where creators showcased the Corprusarium. Just yesterday, the devs celebrated just how much progress they’d made in 2023 by releasing a retrospective. It’s a nice reminder of how far this project has come. “This is going to be timeless when it releases,” said one viewer, while another added, “This is absolutely amazing. Thank you all so much.”
The project remains without a release date, but you can subscribe to the TESR Skywind YouTube channel to follow along with all updates. Of course, as soon as there is a release date, we’ll be certain to report on it.
