What if we could collide the worlds of some of the most popular RPGs in recent years powered by Unreal Engine? That’s what we’ll get with the upcoming Throne and Liberty.
It’s fair to say that the likes of Skyrim, Fable and Final Fantasy XVI are very different fantasy RPGs, but there’s little denying that each offers vast and immersive worlds to explore with interesting stories and characters that will leave a lasting impression. So when we get a game that looks to be inspired by the aforementioned titles, fans of the RPG genre have good reason to be excited. Judging by the announcement trailer, Throne and Liberty looks to also have hints of Elden Ring and Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Published by the financial clout of Amazon Games and developed by NCSoft, the studio behind the likes of Lineage and Guild Wars series, you’ll know that Throne and Liberty comes bundled with potential in abundance. What’s more, Throne and Liberty is free-to-play. Hopefully, that won't mean it will be implemented with an overly grinding levelling-up system that pushes players to purchase the dreaded time-savers. Nonetheless, this MMORPG looks epic, to say the least.

“Welcome to Throne and Liberty, a free-to-play MMORPG that takes place in the vast open world of Solisium. You can scale expansive mountain ranges for new vantage points, scan open skies, traverse sprawling plains, explore a land full of depth and opportunity,” reads the description on the Steam store.
“Adapt your fight to survive and thrive through strategic decisions in PvP, PvE or both as you encounter evolving battlefields impacted by weather, time of day, and other players. There is no single path to victory as you seek to defeat Kazar and claim the throne while keeping rival guilds at bay.”
Despite being currently available in South Korea, Throne and Liberty does not have a solid release date in the West at the time of writing, but it is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at some point this year. In the meantime, be sure to add it to your Steam wishlist to keep updated with its developments and launch.
