We live in a wonderful age of video games in which the standard of visuals, gameplay and storytelling is ever on the rise and this upcoming sci-fi RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5 looks to raise the bar to a new level.
I remember thinking in the late 90s and early 2000s that graphics can't get better than this. Even though I was playing games such as WWF No Mercy on the Nintendo 64 and Resident Evil 2 on the original PlayStation (hey, they were kinda realistic by the standards of that time).

Today, I’m pretty sure we’re all saying the same thing with video games often blurring reality with realistic graphics such as the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired horror game, from The Chinese Room, Still Wakes the Deep, now available on Xbox Game Pass and racing games like Forza Motorsport on Xbox Series X.

One other video game that looks to blur the lines of reality is the upcoming sci-fi RPG from Archetype Entertainment called Exodus, which was first announced during The Game Awards 2023, and it looks to be a game for fans of Mass Effect and Skyrim. It also just so happens to have Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey playing the lead character too.
What’s more, the development studio is made up of ex-BioWare employees who had worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age: Origins and the Mass Effect series, so you know that their talents are stacked. During its announcement, we were treated to a stunning Exodus trailer powered by Unreal Engine 5, dropping the jaws of those in attendance and those watching at home.
“Having fled a dying Earth, humanity has found a new home in a hostile galaxy, reads the Exodus synopsis. “Here, we are the underdogs, fighting our final battle for survival. You are the Traveler, humanity’s last hope.”
No release date has been announced for Exodus at the time of writing but it is currently scheduled to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
