The Simpsons: Hit and Run was a staple of my childhood. I can picture it now clear as day. The PlayStation 2 startup screen followed by the game’s opening jingle. Ah, that’s sweet nostalgia right there.
I’d love to play the game again one day and I know for a fact that I’m not alone in thinking that. In fact, there’s a huge appetite for a The Simpsons: Hit and Run remake. The game’s creator recently teased that he’s on board with the idea which is always a good start. In the meantime, one fan has taken it upon themselves to remake the entirety of the game themselves. The results are very impressive so you should definitely check the project out. Today though, fans have gathered to praise The Simpsons: Hit and Run’s kicking function, of all things.
Take a look at some of our favourite PlayStation 2 games below.
Reddit user Hassaan18 wrote, “The only game we need remastered,” alongside a gif of Homer kicking Ned Flanders around his front lawn. The post received a whopping 70K upvotes. Lt_Pyjamas offered up some insightful development history, saying, “They were considering taking the kicking out of the game until they had Matt Groening play it. The first thing he did was howl with laughter as he kicked Marge down the street. They decided to keep it in.” You learn something new everyday.
Kay_29 said, “I’m very happy that they kept the kicking in. Sometimes all I do is kick people,” while buefish added, “You can also kick the small children. Best game ever.” Bit mean but okay. JohnLocke815 wrote, “This game is why I brought a PS2.”

Which other games would you like to see remade? Capcom fans are desperate to see Dino Crisis get the remake treatment following the success of Resident Evil 4. I’d like to see Croc make a comeback.
