Sorry Black Widow fans, Scarlett Johansson is officially done with Marvel movies.
Scarlett Johansson has described her time with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a “sausage party” and confirmed that she won’t be returning for any future movies or TV shows as Black Widow.
Johansson talked about her time as the character on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, where she finally put the films behind her.

She said: "Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience."
Johansson first took on the role of Black Widow alongside Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 2 (2010) before reprising her role in The Avengers (2012) She then went on to make further appearances in the following Avengers films, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and her own solo-film Black Widow (2021).
When looking back on her time at Marvel as an Avenger she said: "When I did Avengers I was one of the few [women]… it was like a big sausage party,"

Black Widow was the only female Avenger at the time, before being joined by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), as well as more characters in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Female Marvel characters are now taking more prominent roles in the MCU, such as the upcoming team-up movie The Marvels, which recently aired its first trailer on YouTube.
Gwyneth Paltrow also reminisced about her time in the MCU, who’s most recent appearance was at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Unlike Scarlet Johansson, Paltrow was slightly more optimistic about returning to the MCU, simply stating: "They can always ask me.”
While Black Widow’s inclusion in the MCU will be missed by many, the character will likely live on through Florence Pugh’s character Yelena, who’s likely going to take the mantle and is set to appear in the upcoming film The Thunderbolts, set for release in 2024.
