According to a rumour currently making the social media rounds, Resident Evil 9 is being announced at the next State of Play event.
Following months of rumours, Capcom finally announced that the next Resident Evil is in development, assumed to be the ninth mainline entry in the ever-popular survival horror series. Details were not revealed in terms of what story it would tell or the characters it would feature, but it was more than enough to excite the Resident Evil masses.

There have been rumours that Capcom has various remakes in the works such as the original Resident Evil (again), Resident Evil Zero as well as Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 5. It’s unlikely that all of those games are in development at the same time with production in full swing but I like to think that at least one is on the way soon.

As for the rumoured Resident Evil 9, a Threads profile belonging to victormolinno was shared on Reddit claiming that the next game in the survival horror series will be revealed at the State of Play this coming Tuesday.
While we should take all rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, Redditor Remarkable-Joke3099 claims that victormolinno leaked the unannounced State of Play before Jeff Grubb leading us to believe that there is some validity behind the claims.

"I leaked the State of Play date before Jeff Grubb and I can say that at least two first-party titles will appear and Resident Evil 9 can finally show its face. But since I'm not yet as popular as Jeff Grubb, it goes unnoticed,” claimed the Threads user.
If the rumoured State of Play does take place on Tuesday, 24 September, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that a new Resident Evil game is announced. We’ll of course keep you posted when all the relevant information drops.
