The cat is out of the bag, finally - Capcom’s long-anticipated remake of 2005’s iconic Resident Evil 4 has a release date, as revealed during the June 2 State of Play presentation.
The action-adventure game was a massive hit on PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube, and did much to push third-person shooters forward. With Capcom having already put out a well-received remake of Resident Evil 2, a rather-more-mixed Resident Evil 3, and of course a remake of the OG game so many years ago, a remake of Resi 4 was a given. And here it is.
Watch the reveal trailer for the Resident Evil 4 remake below…
As you can see in the trailer, the release date for Capcom’s next remake of its legendary zombie series is set for March 2023. March 24, 2023, to be exact. It’s targeting PlayStation 5 - sorry, PS4 owners, no immediate word on previous-gen compatibility - and there’s mention made of it featuring some virtual reality elements. We also don't yet know if this will be PlayStation exclusive. Probably not.

Also revealed by Capcom was a PSVR2 release for Resident Evil Village - albeit without a release date specified. Excited for new-gen Resi 4, though? Yeah, we said it didn’t need a remake - but what do we know, really?
