If you’ve ever wanted to freely explore Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2, this mod dubbed a ‘dream come true’ grants you that very expedition.
The original Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, before arriving on modern platforms including the Nintendo Switch in 2023. In 2018, Rockstar Games released its sequel which is in fact a prequel to the original game. Unlike the 2010 title starring John Marston, a former member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang, the prequel starred Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the gang, and a deputy to Dutch van der Linde.

Without giving too much away, there is a large section of the 2010 game that takes place in Mexico. Unfortunately, Mexico is not available to freely explore in the sequel. Oddly enough, Mexico is in the sequel, but it’s not accessible for players to explore. There is a way to access Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 but it can only be done via a glitch. Well, that was until now.

Thankfully, a team of modders befittingly called ‘Mexico Team’ has brought Mexico to Red Dead Redemption 2 and it’s free to download now via libertycity.net. However, rather than allowing players to access the blocked content in Red Dead Redemption 2, it instead brings the location of Nuevo Paraiso from the 2010 game into the sequel with reworked assets.
It seems that the mod is going down a treat with the community with one fan in particular tweeting “Exploring Nuevo Paraiso (Mexico) in Red Dead Redemption 2 is a dream that has finally come true thanks to modders,” while sharing some gorgeous gameplay of the mod in action.
It’s also worth mentioning that the ‘Nuevo Paraiso - Mexico’ mod is currently in its early access phase so it may be buggy during these early days. Yet, just taking a look at the screenshots of the mod takes me on a trip down memory lane with the location of Nuevo Paraiso providing some of the best moments of Red Dead Redemption.
Sadly, as with most mods, ‘Nuevo Paraiso - Mexico’ is only available on PC and not consoles. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
