As much as I can't wait for GTA VI to finally release, I've always considered Red Dead Redemption to be the superior series.
Unfortunately, if you're looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 3, you'll have to strap in for even more of a wait than you were expecting, as it sounds like the next entry in Rockstar's western franchise might not even make it to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!
As it turns out, GTA VI is looking increasingly likely to be the only Rockstar Games title released as part of the PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X generation, according an industry insider. Based on what we know about the new GTA so far, the game is expected no later than March 2025, and footage of an early build of the game is all over the internet. Oh, and we can expect an actual trailer any day now.

Given the amount of time and resources it takes to make an open world game these days, especially one on the scale of a new Grand Theft Auto, it's probably not too much of a shock to learn that GTA VI is likely to be the only Rockstar game delivered on the current generation of consoles.
This is according to a resurfaced post from leaker AccountNGT, who claimed a while back they believe GTA VI is the one and only game Rockstar will release this generation.
Given the multiple reports suggesting Rockstar has cancelled a number of projects to focus on GTA VI, the idea of the next GTA being the only release for the generation isn't too hard to swallow. It's also worth noting Red Dead Redemption 2 was the only brand-new game to be released by Rockstar on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
All of this would strongly suggest that Red Dead Redemption 3, which is planned to release somewhere down the line, will be released for whatever consoles come after the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Take this with a hefty pinch of salt for now, of course. This is purely speculation based on the comments of an alleged insider. But it only takes a quick look at Rockstar's history and current priorities to see this is almost certainly going to be the case. In other words, Red Dead Redemption fans need to get ready for a long old wait.
