Red Dead Redemption 2 is without question one of the best video games of the last generation and even today, since that time, there’s been no other game like it.
At least for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a Metacritic score of 97, it’s hard to dispute the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't an all-time great, arguably even better than its 2010 predecessor. Quite confusingly the sequel is a prequel to the 2010 game and in it, you play Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang.

Whether it's partaking in the main story missions or its many side activities, Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar Games lets you live the Wild West fantasy life like no other. What’s more, your choices will impact how NPCs perceive you and there are even certain actions that can alter its conclusion. Ultimately, your Arthur Morgan can be a great guy or an absolute scum bag, the choice is yours.

My Arthur Morgan was a kind-hearted soul who would help any NPC in need. When I finished my Red Dead Redemption 2 story, I was hit with a sudden feeling of sadness. This story was over, and what was I to do next? Sure, I could start a new story, but I never want to taint my version of Arthur Morgan. I wanted to retain that memory and for that reason, I’ve never played Red Dead Redemption 2 again and it seems that I’m not alone in that sentiment.
“I just finished RDR2, and I feel so empty. Please recommend similar games to fill this void in my soul,” pleaded Redditor IndependentTap513. “For more context, I enjoyed the story and character-driven parts the most, so keep that in mind. BTW, I'm not really a gamer so forgive me if idk much.”

“There is no alternative, there will forever be a void within you. Accept it, live with it. I'm sorry,” said a joyous amala97, and to be fair, they’re not wrong. “The original Red Dead Redemption, I'd say, would be somewhat an alternative, but nowhere near what RDR2 offers,” suggested Shady kind of Green. “I diagnose you with Red Dead Depression,” exclaimed dnh.
Thankfully, some Reddit users were offering useful suggestions such as Ghost of Tsushima, the Uncharted and Mass Effect series as well as The Last of Us and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Out of those suggestions, at least with having a high level of immersion in an open world, you can't go much wrong with Ghost of Tsushima, Mass Effect or The Witcher 3. Sadly, however, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still very much a game that stands alone.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
