It's always a tragic sight when someone loses a save file. It doesn't matter how it happens, it's a frustrating and upsetting moment. This is exactly what happened to one player who took to Reddit to vent their annoyance.
The user, u/Astro_gamer_caver, told the tale to all. They had been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for 220 hours, sharing the account with their daughter, and one day they couldn't sign in. They had, until now, been using a Rockstar Social Club account. When faced with the possibility of losing the account, they got in contact with Rockstar Games.
Games can bring so much joy, but also soul-crushing pain
After going back and forth with Rockstar Games for over two weeks, they have seemingly lost any access to the account. Why? Because they used a work email address to sign up to the Social Club and they had lost that job a year previous.

With no chance to get into those emails and save the account, the support ticket was closed and they have lost their game save. Of course, many Redditors were quick to point out that they shouldn't have used a work email for a video game, while others suggested opening a new support ticket in the hopes they get a more helpful member of staff. Regardless, this was sadly avoidable had they used a personal email address instead.
One reply tried to put a silver lining spin on the situation saying "It’s worth rebuying and replaying. Just play it differently. But yeah, that stinks." Other users began sharing their own stories of losing save files - kids deleting them is a popular reason.
However you lose a save, it's crushing. I still feel rubbish whenever I remember my PlayStation memory card corrupting and losing a 60-hour Final Fantasy 7 save file. As the kids say, 'can I get some Fs in the chat'
