Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't just a game about shooting people in the face when they beat you at a card game. Oh, no.
I'm told it's in fact entirely possible to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2 without gunning down innocent NPCs. Turns out murder is just one of the activities on offer, alongside fishing, camping, hunting, and so much more.
While it's been a whopping six years since the sequel/prequel to Red Dead Redemption was first released, players are still discovering all kinds of new tricks and new secrets. Turns out we love making the game harder for ourselves than we need to.

As well as an easier way to catch legendary fish, it turns out there's also an easier way to hunt - one that actually allows you to avoid killing the game's animals, if you're particularly sensitive to those grisly skinning cutscenes.
Most players looking to bag 100% completion believed hunting down and killing animals in Rockstar's open-world was the only way to complete the in-game journal.
However, it's actually entirely possible to can simply track down the animals and observe, which will also check them off your in-game journal.
Obviously this won't help you get those rare pelts for crafting. If you want an animals skin you're gonna have to take it the hard way. But observing them is still a quicker and easier way to check off those objectives.

Of course it's also entirely likely that you want to hunt and kill the animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 - and that's perfectly valid too! If I can lasso a random NPC and throw them off a cliff for giggles, you can skin a virtual deer for fun.
