Red Dead Redemption 2 players may finally have solved one of the game's biggest mysteries: the fate of Gavin.
There's so much to see and do in Red Dead Redemption 2 that players are still making completely new and unexpected discoveries to this day. Not too surprising, given the sheer scope and scale of Rockstar's celebrated open-world.
Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!
One of Red Dead Redemption 2's biggest unsolved mysteries revolves around a character known only as Gavin. Players can randomly bump into an NPC called Nigel in one of the game's major towns, and if they speak with him they learn he's desperately looking for his mate, Gavin. By the end of the game, if we see Nigel again it becomes all-too apparent that he's lost his mind trying to find his old friend.

By all accounts it's impossible to track down Gavin ourselves and help old Nigel out. At least, it's impossible to find Gavin alive.
A popular Reddit post by u/DontTurnAround1 uploaded to r/reddeadredemption suggests that it is possible to find Gavin, but that he's suffering from a nasty case of being dead. "Swear to God this is Gavin," they say. "More in comments." Sure enough, the post in question shows the corpse of a well-dressed man. But what is there to suggest this is - or rather was - Gavin?
"I just started Chapter 6, and was on my way to the widow in the north east mission," our Gavin hunter explains. "I saw a X marking a dead body and went to look, thought it may be an ambush. When I got there, there was a guy getting off his horse to look at the body, felt scripted but idk. He didn't have any special dialog. But this guy has a VERY similar outfit to Nigel. I might try to take his body to a city to see if anything happens."
Whether or not this is - or again, was - Gavin is a point of debate among Red Dead Redemption 2 players. Some believe it has to be, while others reckon there really is no Gavin in the game, and that we should probably stop looking.
