Red Dead Redemption 2 fans refuse to give up on Sadie Adler DLC

Blame all the people spending money on Grand Theft Auto 5's online...

Unless you count all of the Red Dead Online content, it’s kind of wild that Rockstar Games never released any DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The original Red Dead Redemption got a bunch of extra content, including what is possibly one of the best expansions ever made; Undead Nightmare.

Even though RDR2 is over six years old at this point, this hasn’t stopped the Red Dead community from asking for something, literally anything, in the way of DLC.

One of the most popular requests comes in the form of a Sadie Adler DLC. Threads begging Rockstar to release something that focuses on her are a monthly occurrence on the r/reddeadredemption subreddit, such as this one from last September.

“I agree,” replied user Denderf, “Would’ve been great if they had made two story DLCs like they did for GTA 4.”

“A Sadie DLC that takes place after the epilogue just makes perfect sense. The second one could’ve been a Charles or Javier DLC that also takes place after the epilogue.”

So why did Rockstar never opt to capitalise on DLC for the game?

As of June this year, it was confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 had sold roughly 67 million copies, making it the seventh best-selling video game of the 2010s. Why wouldn’t Rockstar want to capitalise on that with some extra DLC?

Well, it probably has to do with the game that’s at the top of that previously aforementioned list…

It’s never been outright confirmed, but it’s pretty obvious that the enduring success of Grand Theft Auto V’s online led to Red Dead Redemption 2’s downfall.

As of September this year, it was confirmed that GTA V has sold over 205 million copies. If you don’t fancy doing the maths in your head, that’s almost three times as many copies as Red Dead Redemption 2.

Basically, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two probably saw all the extra money they could make if they just ignored RDR2 and just made the team pump out more GTA V Online content instead.

Here’s hoping Grand Theft Auto VI fails miserably so we can get DLC for Red Dead Redemption 3, I guess?
