Well, just when we thought Rockstar Games was exclusively busy at work cooking up Grand Theft Auto VI … If recent rumours are to be believed, a Red Dead Redemption remake has been in the works too for quite some time. What’s even better is that insiders are teasing that it'll be unveiled next month in August.
I’d take all of this with a pinch of salt until anything is officially confirmed by Rockstar. A remake of the original Red Dead Redemption has been rumoured for years, but these whispers regained traction after a new rating for the game popped up last week. Fans are hoping it’s better than GTA’s Definitive Edition Trilogy, but surely that can’t be hard to achieve. We do have Gamescom’s Opening Night Live towards the end of August. Could this be the planned announcement date? Or are we all just clowns waiting for nothing? In the meantime, allow me to provide you with some Red Dead Redemption 2 entertainment. Did you know that it’s actually possible to explore Mexico without mods?
Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below.
Reddit user Deep_Ad5121 recently said, “Don’t get why they wasted their time making Mexico in RDR2 just to not put it in the game.” It’s a valid point, but you can explore Mexico without mods if you want to. It does consist of utilising a few glitches though, so it’s somewhat of a limited experience but you can run around and take in the scenery. That’s better than nothing.

It may be something you’ve already tried. Did you hit an invisible wall? You just need to know where to slip through the cracks. The glitch was originally discovered by YouTuber ZacCoxTV and before we begin, you’ll need to have completed the game. To exploit the glitch, travel to the most westerly point of New Austin and then ride your horse across the water.
ZacCoxTV demonstrates that you’ll need to aim towards the right of the prominent rock on the opposing shoreline. Do so, and you should trot straight up into Mexico. Carry on through the narrow canyon, and jump and fight against the invisible barrier. Eventually, you should pass through. Take a look at the full tutorial below.
Now, you should be free to explore as you please - somewhat. Save, set up a camp, or venture too far and you’ll ‘die’ and return to the main map but you can take in a few sights and the prison from the original game first. It’s trickier than it sounds to achieve but the exploit still hasn’t been patched. You learn something new everyday.
