A new Red Dead Redemption 2 mod has added loads of new stuff to do in the open-world, including 48 bandit hideouts.
The modding community for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been going wild recently, adding an extraordinary amount of new content to Rockstar's critically-acclaimed masterpiece. Additions range from new playable characters, a New Game+ mode and “ultra realistic” graphical overhaul mods.
One of the latest mods adds a variety of new activities to populate what many believe to be the best open-world in gaming.

The Bandit Hideouts mod, created by crossed99, adds 48 hideouts to the game, which are scattered across the far reaches of the map. Each hideout is populated by gang members, and can be found in several different locations, like campsites, in the woods, inside mines and so on. Players will need to locate the hideouts and clear them out before they can call reinforcements, and if you change your mind and try to flee, some of them will pursue you on horseback.
The player will also be ambushed from time to time by roaming bandits, with specific parts of the map scripted as “ambush points”, which look empty until you wander into them, where you’ll be met with a small group of assailants.
Luckily, you don’t have to fight them alone, as gunmen can now be hired at the nearest saloon, so you can wrangle up a posse of armed henchmen to help you storm the camps and make life easier. The gunmen can also be controlled through an in-game menu, so you can tell them to attack, sneak up, drive carriages and more.
If you’re a fan of the Undead Nightmare DLC from the first Red Dead Redemption game, you’re in luck, as the mod also comes with a zombie mode. Zombies can be spawned into the open-world as wandering enemies, and the bandit hideouts can also be replaced with zombie lairs if that’s more your style. Many fans are still baffled by Rockstar’s decision to not make another Undead Nightmare expansion, with many calling it a missed opportunity given the immense popularity of the original.

Practically all of the features in the mod can be tweaked and customised to a player’s chosen playstyle, such as the number of enemies, how frequently they spawn back, and much more. It’s also available to download through Nexus Mods for those who prefer that platform.
