PlayStation 5 owners can double their download speed by changing one simple setting and we’ll let you know how.
Whether you play competitive multiplayer online on PS5, want to download the latest PS Plus offerings or even stream PS3 classic titles via Sony’s subscription service, most of us would likely prefer to have faster internet speeds.
Sometimes, depending on your situation, such a luxury might not be obtainable. However, thanks to an article from TweakTown.com, they’ve let us know how we can get faster download speeds for our PS5 regardless of our predicament.
Typically, the PS5 Wi-Fi network is set to 2.4GHz. That’s unless you already know this trick and have adjusted the GHz accordingly. If you’ve not already changed the setting, we’ve got you covered. By changing this one simple setting, you can boost your GHz from 2.4 to 5GHz.

It’s worth mentioning that if, like me, your PS5 is connected to your router via an ethernet cable, you’ll have no need to make use of this process. It’s for a wireless connection only over Wi-Fi.
The first thing that TweakTown recommends is that you disconnect your PS5 from the internet and make it forget the network from the menu. That being said, here’s how to boost your download speed to 5GHz.
Go to Settings and Select Network.
Now select Set Up Internet Connection.

Select your network and press the Options button on the controller, then choose Forget Network.
Press Triangle to scan networks, select your network and sign in.
When connected, select network and press Options again, then choose Wi-Fi Frequency and set it to 5GHz.
Go back a screen and then choose Connection Status, then View Connection Status to check if your PS5 is using 5GHz. You can also select Test Internet Connection to make double make sure.

That’s it, job done. Your PlayStation 5 should now be connected to your Wi-Fi at 5GHz and you can enjoy the benefits of faster download speeds. Happy days.
