I have so much love in my heart for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. While the Game Boy Advance games weren't my introduction to the world of Pokémon (Gold and Silver performed that role), they were an explosion of colour and joy that has stayed with me - even after all this time.
We've written before about why we think Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire deserve all the love. The third-generation games introduced so many massive changes to the series, and played a huge role in shaping it into what it is today.
While Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire got remakes back in 2014 for the 3DS, we still can't help but wonder what Hoenn would look like on more powerful hardware. That's not a dig at the wonderful 3DS, to be clear, but Hoenn always felt like such a massive, ancient region. It seems a shame not to return to it again, right?

Fortunately, Game developer and YouTuber ArcSin Jesse has been busy putting together a stunning project that imagines just what the classic games would look like in Unreal Engine 5.
Jesse opted to remake an iconic battle: the showdown between the trainer and Rayquaza at the Sky Pillar. While I'd certainly love to see the rest of the game in this style, I'm happy to settle for this delicious teaser.
Take a look at a video showing off the battle - as well as the process behind developing it - below (or via this link).

I don't know much, but I know I'd like Nintendo to hire this person immediately. An open-world Hoenn on Nintendo's next console that looks as good as this? Yeah, that's the dream. That right there is very much the dream.
