In September this year, Sony suffered yet another data breach from a ransom group that reportedly blackmailed the company to cough up cash or the obtained data would be sold. Following this attack, PlayStation gamers were urged to change their security settings and update passwords just to be on the safe side.
Sadly, Sony has suffered another data breach, but according to VGC, this is a separate incident from the September 2023 shenanigans. The latest attack is related to a file transfer system used by Sony called MOVEit and a reported 6,800 current and former employees have had their personal information obstained illegally in the United States.
The breach has also been confirmed by Sony and the company is apparently going to contact those affected. What’s more, Sony states that the attack is only related to MOVEit and no other software platforms have been impacted.
Hopefully, Sony will get its act together because these data breaches could get a lot worse. You’d think by now, Sony would have got its act together. That being said, it’s unlikely that you would have been impacted by this latest breach, but it's always important to change your passwords on a regular basis just in case.
