Since its initial release in 2020 on PlayStation 4, gamers have been calling for Ghost of Tsushima to be released on PC. When that time would arrive, you’d think that everyone would be happy, right?
When Ghost of Tsushima was released the following year for the PlayStation 5 as part of the Director’s Cut it came with the Iki Island expansion, the fun co-op mode ‘Legends’ as well as a host of other improvements and quality of life updates. Even when being played on the PlayStation 4, Ghost of Tsushima looks absolutely gorgeous. In fact, I’d say it's one of the most visually impressive games in recent years and it’s a fantastic game to play on top of that.

In our review of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, we said: “PlayStation 5 is undoubtedly the definitive way to experience Sucker Punch's open-world samurai adventure. Improved loading times, enhanced resolutions, smoother frame rates, and a slew of brand-new content make the 2020 game shine in new ways. More than that though, it's given me the chance to reassess a video game that I just previously couldn't see the adoration for.”

This week, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut was finally announced for PC but not everyone is happy about it. Ghost of Tsushima follows other PlayStation console exclusives coming to PC such as Horizon Forbidden West, Days Gone, The Last of Us Part I and more. Yet, in a tweet by Twitter user KJovian just a handful of comments from disgruntled PlayStation fans were shared originating from a Steam forum. However, ignore the mention of Insomniac Games in the tweet.

It’s a shame that some feel so strongly against Ghost of Tsushima being ported to PC, especially when it’s far from the only Sony title to do so and it certainly won't be the last. I understand the desire for console exclusivity between brands but I feel that PC is fair game and if that means more people can play fantastic video games, that should be better for everyone.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will be released on PC on 16 May 2024.
