PlayStation appears to have accidentally revealed a very cool looking new shooter from the director of District 9, whoops.
That’s right. It looks as if we finally know what Gunzilla Games have been working on. The European studio announced a while back that they’d teamed up with District 9 director Neill Blomkamp to create a new battle royale shooter called Off The Grid. Up to now, we’ve known very little about the game, except that it’s being released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC - and that it’s being made in Unreal Engine 5. Now, thanks to a listing on the PlayStation Store, we’ve got our first look at several gameplay screenshots from the title.
Take a look at the teaser trailer for Off The Grid below. Hopefully the release of a full trailer is imminent.
As reported by Gematsu, PlayStation listed Off The Grid on their own storefront yesterday. The screenshots attached to the listing have since been removed, but they were captured by Gematsu. The game’s description remains. It reads: “Dive into the heart of a covert corporate war between three mega-corporations in a next-generation battle royale game envisioned by Neill Blomkamp, which blends PvP and PvE elements in a game of survival across a sprawling cyberpunk landscape.”

“Experience a 60-hour-long narrative campaign on Teardrop Island at the same time as 150 players are fighting until the last man stands,” it continued. “Build your ultimate character by extracting high-value loot from the island or empower your character with unique abilities by modifying your body during the gameplay session. Team up and experience the evolution of the battle royale genre.” You can see the captured screenshots below.
It all sounds pretty good, right? Well, there is one downside. Last year, it was reported that Off The Grid may incorporate a NFT platform called GunZ. We’ve heard very little on this since, and the NFT market has thankfully crashed so hopefully this idea has been scrapped. We don’t know for sure though. A release date for Off The Grid is not yet available.
