Have you found your Xbox Series X’s graphics lacking? If you have, this setting change might be what you’re looking for.
You’d think after almost four years of the Xbox Series X we’d know all that there is to know about the console.
However, that’s far from true.

Reddit user MasterGuns3205 revealed that a graphics setting you’re using might not be the optimum one for your needs.
While exploring a planet in Bethesda’s Starfield, the OP thought the visuals looked “really dull and hazy”.

As a result, they recalled another gamer saying that using “1.23 was optimal contrast”, and thus they headed into their settings and made the change.
“I changed it and man, what a difference it made. So much clearer, lots of detail, and I HAD to use my flashlight walking around at night,” they shared.
Despite this immediate graphical improvement, the OP still struggled with the visuals when they went to the menu screen.
Nonetheless, while the setting they changed wasn’t a cure all, it made a sudden and noticeable difference that other players may want to check out next time they’re gaming.

Another Redditor mentioned how they use “1.25” for contrast, but that they too still found the menu screen “really dark”, and thus there doesn’t seem to be the perfect setting.
The next time you’re struggling with a dull looking environment in-game, be sure to check your contrast setting; you might be surprised at what a big difference a small tweak can make.
With the successor to the Xbox Series X purportedly on its way sooner than anyone expected, it might not be long before we’re struggling to get optimal settings on that hardware as well.
In the meantime, why not see if you can claim some of this Xbox free store credit that’s doing the rounds.
