Microsoft has just revealed that an incredible piece of hardware is making its way to Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
Back in 2018, Microsoft revealed the Xbox Adaptive Controller. The controller was designed with one sole purpose; to make video games more inclusive and to ensure that players with disabilities could customise the device however they wished.
The Xbox Adaptive Controller was met with unanimous praise, mostly due in part to the customisable freedom it offered to those with mobility-related disabilities.

Microsoft are clearly still looking into ways to improve the experience however, which is why they’ve just revealed a brand new controller to offer gamers an even wider breadth of freedom.
The Xbox Adaptive Joystick is designed to work in tandem with Xbox controllers, including the Xbox Adaptive Controller, allowing an alternative way for players to utilise directional inputs.
You don’t need an Xbox or even an Xbox controller to use it though, as the device can be used on PCs without the need for any companion controllers.
As you can see for yourself in the reveal video for the controller, it’s essentially supposed to distil a two-handed controller into a device that can be used with either one hand, one finger, or even your chin.

And, much like the Xbox Adaptive Controller, it’s fully customisable too. Microsoft has even uploaded several 3D-printable add-ons for the device to their site for free, so you can make sure the controller fits your exact needs.
It’s also not too expensive either, retailing at £24.99 in the United Kingdom, and it’s available for purchase right now.
I’ve watched a few videos of people trying it out for themselves, and the response seems unanimously positive so far.
Here’s hoping Microsoft continues to make strides in the accessibility department, because, as they themselves state, “when everyone plays, we all win”.
