Xbox's unexpected multiplatform shift may have raised some eyebrows, but multiple industry giants have come out in support of the move.
It's a brand-new era for Xbox, with previously exclusive games now bound for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Games like Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, Sea Of Thieves, and presumably Starfield somewhere down the line, are being given new homes on rival consoles.
Former PlayStation bosses Adam Boyes and Shawn Layden have shared their own thoughts on this monumental and previously unheard-of change in strategy for Xbox, suggesting what anyone not tied-up in console war nonsense already knew: this is kind of a great thing.

During an interview with Gamertag Radio (thanks, VGC), former Playstation executive Adam Boyes explained that this is a win-win for everyone.
“I understand why traditionalists are looking at that being like, ‘I don’t like change! I want it to only be where I want it to be!’” Boyes said. “And that’s the bit where my logic gap starts to break."
“Because when Phil [Spencer] and his team are putting amazing content on more platforms, who’s the victim? I ask a lot of people, ‘who’s the victim?’ And there aren’t any, except for people who are like, ‘I only want it where I bought it, and that’s what I expect!’”
Ex PlayStation chairman Shawn Layden shared the exact same sentiment: “Because when Phil [Spencer] and his team are putting amazing content on more platforms, who’s the victim? I ask a lot of people, ‘who’s the victim?’ And there aren’t any, except for people who are like, ‘I only want it where I bought it, and that’s what I expect!’”

He continued: “We’ve seen it before I was in the business when Sega brought their Dreamcast titles to PS2, in time then Sega became a software-only company, and have had a great transformation in that sense. So it does have historical precedence.”
