Whether it’s Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, each offers hundreds of video games to play in an instant whether it’s AAA big-hitters, indie darlings or retro classics of yesteryear waiting to be rediscovered.
What’s more, Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are also great ways to save money in comparison to buying a AAA video game every one to three months. That being said, for the topic of today’s discussion, one game in particular that is available now on Xbox Game Pass for free is one for Elden Ring and Dark Souls fans, but it might not be quite the game you’d expect.

The game in question is the indie title Another Crab’s Treasure developed and published by Aggro Crab. “In a vibrant undersea kingdom on the verge of collapse, a hermit crab embarks on a treasure hunt to buy back his repossessed shell,” reads the synopsis of the game.

Despite its cute trailer that gives us SpongeBob SquarePants vibes, according to reviews aggregated on Metacritic, Another Crab’s Treasure shares much in common with the challenging action RPG titles from the critically acclaimed studio, FromSoftware.
“Another Crab’s Treasure is a Soulslike but for fans and newcomers to the series alike, creating a hilarious, exciting nautical knightly adventure for audiences of all ages,” said Try Hard Guides.
“Another Crab's Treasure is a colourful and lively platformer that's also a tough action RPG with Soulslike combat,” exclaimed PC Invasion. “They juxtapose each other perfectly, and I had a fun time discovering shells, collecting microplastics, and defeating gruelling bosses.”
So if you want to play an Elden Ring or Dark Souls-inspired game disguised as something cute then look no further than Another Crab’s Treasure. This indie delight is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
