It’s nice to play fantastic video games for free and if that sounds like your cup of tea, then this free download is one for fans of Assassin’s Creed and The Lord of the Rings.

Released in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Games. Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels, in terms of stealthy gameplay, Shadow of War also takes inspiration from the Ubisoft series.

“Experience an epic open world brought to life by the award-winning Nemesis System. Forge a new Ring of Power, conquer Fortresses in massive battles and dominate Mordor with your personal orc army in Middle-earth: Shadow of War,” reads the synopsis of the game.

Earning a respectable score of 80 on the aggregate website, Metacritic, Shadow of War is the sequel to 2014’s Shadow of Mordor. By the way, if you’ve never played the original game in this series, you really should change that ASAP.

That being said, if you’ve already finished Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and are ready for its sequel, you can download its free playable demo right now. As you might suspect, you won't be able to spend too long causing mayhem in Mordor with the free playable demo, but it should offer enough time for you to decide whether the sequel is worth the full purchase.

The free Middle-earth: Shadow of War demo is available now digitally via the Steam Store, PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace. Sadly at this time, unlike The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie trilogies, there is no word as of yet, whether Monolith Productions' Middle-earth series will complete a trilogy of its own, but we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed, nonetheless.
