Starfield's massive level cap confirms we'll never finish this damn game

Starfield's massive level cap confirms we'll never finish this damn game

Let's just say you won't be reaching it anytime soon.

If you thought you were prepared to dive into Starfield, you may want to think again. One developer has just revealed that Starfield has an infinite level cap. Damn. I was already scared of the number of hours I’m going to lose to this game. I guess that’s now only going to increase. You know how to lure me in Bethesda.

Starfield is mere days away from release. In fact, on 1 September, I’m imagining many of you will be diving into the game’s early access period. You can start creating your character right now. It might be a good idea to get ahead seeing as Starfield has over 1,000 planets to explore across 100 star systems. The game doesn’t even end when you roll the credits. Bethesda has teased a “unique and exciting twist” on New Game Plus. Consider me very intrigued. As we near release, many players are picking out which companion they’re going to romance. You may be too busy to hold down a relationship though (in-game I mean), seeing as Starfield has an infinite level cap. You heard me.

Take a look at Starfield’s incredible new cinematic trailer below.

As reported by GamesRadar, Bethesda’s Pete Hines recently appeared at Gamescom to spread the gospel on Starfield - and he teased a number of exciting tidbits. He previously revealed that Starfield features his favourite Bethesda main quest ever. Ooo. During the same livestream, Hines answered a question regarding whether Starfield has a level cap. He replied: “I don’t believe we have a level cap.”

Oh my. Infinite levels? I’m imagining that someone is sitting there reading this right now, planning how they’re going to be the first person to reach level one million. Hines did add though, “I mean, I don’t think we have one, but no one’s hit it.” You’d think there is a limit at some point. Still, I’m imagining it’s going to take an absolute age for someone to reach such a limit.

As GamesRadar points out, Skyrim also didn’t have a level cap but you’d max out skills at level 81 making levelling up pointless so it’s likely that Starfield could follow a similar format. It won’t be long until we find out what the game has in store.
